TwinGPT App

TwinGPT lets you select any asset from your installed base and have a live AI conversation about it — drawing on that asset's records and manuals — so field technicians and operations staff can get fast, equipment-specific answers without digging through paperwork.

📋 Asset List Panel

The left panel displays all assets registered in your organization's installed base. Assets must be selected here before TwinGPT can answer questions about them.

Panel header: "Select asset to talk with and click on ingest"

⚠️ Non-obvious: Your asset list may contain a large number of assets. Use the 🔍 search icon to find a specific piece of equipment quickly rather than paging through the full list.

📥 Ingesting an Asset

Ingesting loads the selected asset's data and associated manuals into the TwinGPT chat session. This step is required before the AI can answer asset-specific questions.

Selection Banner

When one or more assets are checked, a selection banner appears above the column headers:

"X row(s) selected"Confirms how many assets are currently checked and ready to ingest
⬆ Ingest iconClick this icon to ingest the selected asset(s) into the active chat session

What Happens After Ingesting

After clicking Ingest, two confirmation messages appear in the chat window:

Confirmation MessageMeaning
Asset information ingestedThe asset's records, specifications, and details have been loaded into the session
Manuals information ingestedTechnical manuals associated with the asset have been loaded and are available for the AI to reference

⚠️ Non-obvious: Both asset data and manuals are ingested in a single click — you do not need to load them separately. If either confirmation message does not appear, the AI may give generic answers rather than equipment-specific ones.

💬 Chat Interface Panel

The right panel is the AI conversation window. It greets you with:

"Hi, welcome to Industrial TwinGPT. How can I help you?"

After ingesting an asset, type any question about that equipment and receive an AI-generated answer based on its records and manuals.

⚠️ Non-obvious: TwinGPT answers are drawn only from the ingested asset's data and manuals. If you ask about a different piece of equipment, select and ingest that asset first — the session does not automatically switch context when you choose a new asset from the list.

⚠️ Non-obvious: The "Was it helpful?" feedback button is the only way to signal answer quality from within the app. Using it consistently helps improve future responses for your team.

🔄 Workflows

Workflow 1 — Start a Conversation About a Specific Asset

  1. Open TwinGPT from the left sidebar.
  2. Locate your asset in the left panel. Use the 🔍 search icon to find it by name or serial number if the list is long.
  3. Check the checkbox next to the asset. The selection banner appears showing "1 row(s) selected."
  4. Click the ⬆ Ingest icon in the selection banner.
  5. Watch for both confirmation messages in the chat panel: Asset information ingested and Manuals information ingested.
  6. Type your question in the "Ask question here..." input field and click ▶ Send.

Result: TwinGPT responds with an answer drawn from that asset's specific records and manuals.

Workflow 2 — Ask Follow-Up Questions in the Same Session

  1. After ingesting an asset and receiving your first answer, review the response.
  2. Click "Was it helpful? 🤍" if the answer was useful — this takes one second and helps improve the system.
  3. Type your next question in the input field without re-ingesting. The session retains the asset context across multiple questions.
  4. Continue asking as many follow-up questions as needed within the session.

Result: A continuous conversation thread builds up in the chat panel, giving you a running record of everything asked and answered for that asset during the session.

Workflow 3 — Switch to a Different Asset Mid-Session

  1. In the asset list, uncheck the currently selected asset by clicking its checkbox.
  2. Check the checkbox next to the new asset you want to query.
  3. Click the ⬆ Ingest icon in the selection banner.
  4. Wait for both confirmation messages to appear in the chat.
  5. Ask your question about the new asset.

Result: The chat session is updated with the new asset's data and manuals. Answers now reflect the newly selected equipment.

Workflow 4 — Find an Asset in a Large List

  1. Click the 🔍 search icon at the top of the asset list panel.
  2. Type part of the asset name or serial number.
  3. Review the filtered results and check the checkbox next to the correct asset.
  4. Ingest and proceed as normal.

Result: The list narrows to matching assets, saving time when working with a large installed base.

✅ Best Practices

  • Always ingest before asking. If you skip the ingest step, TwinGPT will respond with general knowledge rather than information specific to your equipment. Look for both confirmation messages before typing your first question.
  • Use the serial number to confirm you have the right asset. When multiple assets have similar names (e.g., multiple conveyors or boilers), cross-reference the Serial# column against the asset's nameplate before ingesting.
  • Keep questions specific. The more precise your question, the more useful the answer. Instead of "tell me about this asset," ask "what is the recommended lubrication schedule?" or "what are the belt tension specifications?"
  • Always verify critical information. The disclaimer is there for a reason — AI can make mistakes. For safety-critical decisions (maintenance procedures, load limits, electrical specs), cross-check TwinGPT's answer against the original manual or a qualified technician.
  • Use "Was it helpful?" consistently. This is the primary quality feedback mechanism built into the app. Marking unhelpful answers helps the platform improve over time for your organization.
  • Ingest again if you navigate away and return. Session context is not guaranteed to persist if you leave TwinGPT and come back. Re-select and re-ingest your asset at the start of each new working session.
